What is the EMT Refresher course?
Our 40-hour NREMT EMT Refresher course is designed for currently certified or recently lapsed EMTs who need to meet continuing education requirements for NREMT recertification. The course covers all National Continued Competency Program (NCCP) topic areas.
Is this course CAPCE accredited?
Yes. Our EMT Refresher is CAPCE (F5) accredited and accepted by the NREMT for EMT recertification. Your completion is reported to CAPCE and the NREMT within 24 hours of finishing the course.
How does the VILT (Virtual Instructor-Led Training) format work?
VILT sessions are conducted live via Zoom with an experienced EMS instructor. You participate in real-time discussions, case studies, and interactive scenarios. It is not a self-paced or pre-recorded course – you are learning live with an instructor and other students.
Do I need to attend any in-person sessions?
The didactic (classroom) portion is 100% online via VILT. However, there is a hands-on skills component that requires in-person attendance at one of our skills sessions. These are scheduled regularly at our Miami-area location.
How much does the course cost?
The EMT Refresher course is $345. This includes all 40 hours of instruction, course materials, skills session access, and CAPCE/NREMT reporting. Payment plans are available at checkout.
What if my EMT certification has already expired?
If your NREMT certification lapsed within the past 2 years, you may still be eligible to recertify using our refresher course. Contact us at (800) 728-0209 to discuss your specific situation.
How long do I have to complete the course?
Once enrolled, you can attend any upcoming scheduled VILT sessions. Most students complete the course within 2-4 weeks depending on the session schedule they choose. There is no strict deadline – you can take additional time if needed.
Can I get a refund if I cannot complete the course?
Yes. We offer a full refund if you request it before attending your first VILT session. After the first session, partial refunds may be available on a case-by-case basis. Contact us at info@emtrefresher.com for details.
What topics does the refresher cover?
The course follows the NCCP model and covers: Airway Management, Cardiology/Resuscitation, Medical Emergencies, Trauma, EMS Operations, and Individual/Elective topics. All NREMT recertification content areas are addressed.
Will this satisfy Florida state EMT recertification requirements?
Our course meets NREMT recertification requirements. For Florida-specific state certification questions, we recommend contacting the Florida Bureau of Emergency Medical Services, as state requirements may vary from NREMT requirements.
